The transformation of post-socialist agricultural cooperatives represents one of the fascinating, but also controversial stories of the modern history of Slovakia. The book provides an analysis of this unique and far-reaching process. It covers the whole epoch from 1989 to the present. Its ambition is primarily to be a response to the demand of ordinary people for an explanation of what actually happened to cooperatives and cooperatives, what shifts in definition and practice they have undergone, and what dilemmas characterize their position and activities today. It explains how co-operative organizational and property relations are unique, in which complex and controversial ones. It shows what interpretive, legal and reorganization procedures the cooperatives have maintained, but subsequently they have become conventional and strategic companies and some ambiguous organizational hybrids. The aim of the book is to capture and record the delicate complexity of the course of transformation, the cooperative and agricultural situation and decision-making in it. This book provides an insight into the multi-layered world of cooperatives and an understanding of the positions, experiences and (conflicting) perspectives of those involved in the transformation of cooperatives to which it has been affected and affected.
