The book by Hrodna historian Ales Krautsevich tells about the foundation, existence and historical path of the Teutonic Order, which greatly influenced the historical fate of Belarus. The closest relations of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania with the Order began in the 80s of the 14th century. and lasted more than a hundred years, until the beginning of the 15th century. These relations cannot be called good-neighborly. Rather, there was a fierce struggle in which both sides defended their vital interests. The very phenomenon of the Teutonic Order is interesting. This is a unique phenomenon in history, when a spiritual-chivalric union created a powerful state that occupied the most important place in Eastern and Central Europe at the time... In his book, the author describes in detail the creation and organization of the order of the brother-knights of the Teutonic House of the Virgin Mary in Jerusalem, the order's journey from the Palestinian sands to the Prussian forests, military campaigns and the order's participation in the Battle of Grunwald.
