Usually, domestic humanities place Ukraine at the center of their research, only by resorting to wider contexts. The author tried to go beyond this tradition. His focus is Eastern Europe as an ideological construct that emerged in the twentieth century. and now he continues to search for his essence. The subject of analysis is the complex and ambiguous processes that shape the concept of Eastern Europe. In the past, this region has been the subject of a difficult history that still echoes its post-colonial and post-communist trends. At the same time, the author is observing the gradual formation of new qualities that are changing this region. Europe's symbolic borders are shifting rapidly today, and its borders mark Ukraine as a continental outpost that will in the long run affect European identity.
