This book is a biography of three iconic figures of Polish and Ukrainian culture: the playwright Alexander Freder, the "father of Polish comedy", his daughter, painter and writer Sofia Sheptytska, and her son, Metropolitan of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Andriy Sheptytskyi, a great patron of the Ukrainian culture and science. Therefore, a separate book of life is dedicated to each of them - a book of creativity and work against the background of their eras. The fate of this artistic family is also the history of Halychyna at the end of the 18th - the first half of the 20th century and the birth of two modern nations here - Ukrainians and Poles.
