In the monograph, based on the study of the artistic worlds of the novels of I. A. Goncharov, I. S. Turgenev, L. N. Tolstoy, F. M. Dostoevsky, several mutually complementary aspects of the concept of "epic novel" are identified and analyzed, conditioned by the character of the historicism of Russian literature, the features and pace of its development, the Orthodox character of Russian literature and its original system of values, the specifics of the assimilation of European and world experience by Russian writers, their appeal to mythology, the combination of novelistic and epic principles in the artistic worlds of Russian classics.
