This book reveals and presents all by now known early Nevyansk icons. With only a few exceptions, they are collected in the Nevyansk Icon Museum. The publication of these historical monuments - as well as the biographies of all documented Old Believer icon painters in the mining and metallurgical districts of the Urals - for the first time ever enables the scholars to see the genesis of Nevyansk icon-painting tradition, the stylistic aspects and distinctive features oi Nevyansk icons of the first half of the 18th century.
