The present edition is a regular publication in the series “Losev’s Readings”. It was based on the materials of an International scientific conference “The Eleventh Losev’s Readings”, which was held in October, 2005 under the aegis of “The World Culture History” Scientific council of the Russian Academy of Science. The book is dedicated to the “Milestones” - a collection of articles about Russian intellectuals, one of the most striking phenomena of the Silver Age - which was published in 1909 and included works by outstanding Russian philosophers and publicists, such as N.Berdyaev, S.Bulgakov, M.Gershenzon, A.Izgoev and others. The collection touched upon the most relevant questions of the Russian spiritual life and gave rise to hot debates. The aim of the modern scientists from different parts of Russia and other countries was to analyze the famous collection as a single text, to comprehend what role it played in the history of the Russian culture, and to define the connection with the foremost art.
