Second revized and supplemented edition. A new biography of Lyudmila Zhivkova (1942-1981), daughter of Bulgarian communist leader Todor Zhivkov. She was in charge of the cultural policy of the country's totalitarian regime from the mid-1970s until her death in 1981 and was known as "the white bird of Bulgarian culture" and "the Red Princess". This book is the product of many years of research carried out by the author Ivo Milev. Beginning in 2009, he went through more than 50,000 pages of archival material, most of it unused previously, to produce the most detailed account of Zhivkova's life ever published. Milev's original intention was to make a feature film. The book is centered on the personal drama of a woman who died thinking that she had been betrayed, abandoned and deceived even by her own father, and whose death remains a mystery even today.
