An analysis of declassified documents and interviews with direct participants of the events suggest that the collapse of the USSR was not the result of the activities of the United States special services, on the contrary, US leaders feared the sudden collapse of the Soviet state, which could drag Eurasia into political and economic chaos. Calling the collapse of the USSR the "work of America," US politicians have overestimated their own potential for the destruction and restructuring of foreign regimes. The author is convinced that the American role in the collapse of the Union was a myth that was inflated to please American foreign policy figures and supporters of the imperial revenge in Russia. Ukraine has become a key player in the drama of the collapse of the Union, not only gaining independence for itself, but also showing a path to statehood for less determined republics, such as Belarus and Kazakhstan.
