The Jesuits Melichar Grodecky and Stefan Pongrac and the canonist Marek Krizin of Esztergom, four hundred years ago, on 7 September 1619, became victims of political struggles in the then Habsburg monarchy and religious intolerance, who did not hesitate to use violence against those who were unwilling to give up their faith and beliefs, and even their lives. The book, which is being published on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the martyrdom of Kosice martyrs, was created by an organic combination of works by several authors. There you will find historical context, which is given by Rajmund Ondrus SJ, biographical portraits of martyrs, two of which were elaborately elaborated by Milan Hudacek SJ, an interesting overview of the ball of martyrs from Kosice by Petr Zubek. A special part consists of a report on anthropological research of relics and a rich pictorial supplement.
