This unique collection of retouched and colorized historical photographs breathes new life into the era of the Third Bulgarian Kingdom (1878-1946). The period started with the country's liberation after five centuries of Ottoman Turkish rule and ended with the establishment of the People's Republic of Bulgaria in the wake of the communist takeover. Those seven decades were a time of military victories and cultural and economic upsurge, but also tragic defeats and harrowing tribulations.
