The publication offers readers the view of those who were behind the creation of the oldest Slovak Catholic periodical in the hectic times of the first decade of full religious freedom in our conditions. After forty years during which this weekly was manipulated by the communist authorities, it was not easy to embark on its revival, but neither on the revitalization of Slovak Catholic journalism and the Catholic spirit in our society. The challenges of the times did not leave the members of the editorial staff indifferent, and even though they listened to the new breath of the Spirit, its action in those times and the call to follow it, often their ideas were not quite in line with what some others thought, and so the revival process was complicated in the general perception. The reader, especially those interested in Church history, is given a useful, partly lesser-known insight into a phase in the life of the Catholic Newspaper characterised by the pursuit of a new direction - he or she can make up his or her own mind about what was done and what did not come out of the intentions. The authors will be pleased if this account of theirs is seen as both instructive and motivating.
