This book is the result of a study of the influence of contradictions between Soviet and post-Soviet perceptions of Islamic religiosity on contemporary religious relations in Kyrgyzstan. Based on a large volume of research material, the reasons for the aggravated course of changes occurring in the perception of Islamic religiosity among the population are revealed. It is shown how and by what mechanisms the clash of perceptions of Islamic religiosity formed in people in Soviet and post-Soviet times influences contemporary religious relations. The trends of changes occurring in the population's perception of Islamic religiosity are determined. The negative consequences of the polarization of perceptions of Islamic religiosity in Kyrgyz society are revealed, and measures are proposed to reduce their pace and harmonize them.
