The illuminated annalistic chronicle represents a legendary collection of Ivan the Terrible – the largest chronographic work of Medieval Rus illustrated with about 17 000 colored miniatures with a binder made of high-quality nubuk lettered in gold and decorative elements on the book cover. This monument to Old Russian book art representing the earliest historical and literary encyclopedia and completely reproducing miniatures and Old Russian text of every sheet of the original manuscript doesn’t’ have analogs in terms of the scale and presentation form of the covered material. The fourth book of the edition is devoted to the Russian history from 1205 to 1216 and includes data on Serbian monarchs, Bulgarian Empire, life and activity of Saint Sava – an Orthodox monk, capture of Kiev by Olgovich family, Konstantin Vsevolodovich and Yuri II brother’s love, the Battle of Lipitsa – a struggle over the Grand Princely throne, and other data.
