The present book is dedicated to the important problems of the history of Kalmykia of 1941 – 1945. On the basis of numerous archive materials and statistical data the author describes the prewar situation, shows the transformation of economy to support the country’s military needs and the contribution of the Kalmyk people to the defeat of Hitler’s Germany. For the first time, with the use of new historical sources, the author touches upon the questions of incursion by the German fascist forces into the country, establishment of an occupation regime and cooperation of the republic’s population and the Kalmyk immigrants with the Nazi.
