The book offers a compact description of most German words incorporated in the Bulgarian language. These include direct and indirect borrowings and parts of borrowings from German as well as borrowings from other languages which underwent formal or semantic changes while migrating through German. The international vocabulary in Bulgarian has evolved over the last few decades. As a result, the academic Dictionary of Foreign Words in Bulgarian (1982) identifies more than 4,760 lemmatized words borrowed from German, while the present book discusses about 1,300 such words.
