The present documentary narrative is focused on N.M.Karamzin, a man whose life was connected with the fortune of the whole Russian nation and state. A young man, Karamzin got to the literary society of Novikov, one of the centers of the Russian intellectual life of that time. When the Great French Revolution started, Karamzin was in Paris. During the most important days of the war of 1812 he was in Moscow. Since the victorious year of 1815 Karamzin was the Emperor’s permanent companion and opponent. Still, on December 14, 1825, he was at the Senate square in Petersburg. The important historical events in Russia were closely connected with Karamzin’s private life.
