This text covers two main processes: the resurrection of statehood and the creation of the democratic system of modern Bulgaria. The restoration of statehood is an event that returns the Bulgarians to the European political map and predetermines the new political realities of the European Southeast. State building is not a one time act and takes some time after the end of the war. It all started with the Armistice of Edirne in January 1878 and ended with the election of the first parliament in the fall of 1879.
