This album contains 140 rare photographs and facsimiles that reveal the political situation in the time before the attack, the situation on its eve and the consequences afterwards. On April 16, 1925, a powerful explosion shook the capital's church of St. Nedelya, taking the lives of over 150 people and injuring another 500. Perpetrated by the Military Organization of the Bulgarian Communist Party, the attack remains the bloodiest terrorist act in Bulgarian history and has become a tragic symbol of the deep political disunity that gripped the country in the 1920s. Its pages show the scale of the destruction in the church, portraits of the victims and the conspirators. Testimonies of the repressions that followed the declaration of martial law in the country are also presented, including the last moments of the convicted, captured on camera before their execution.
