This monograph continues the series «Archival Heritage of IHMC RAS». The third volume puts into circulation in the academic community an unpublished work by the prominent Soviet medievalist Elena Ch. Skrzhinskaya devoted to the history and architecture of the Akkerman fortress and written as a result of her research mission in 1947. The manuscript and photo album already prepared for print nevertheless remained unpublished and were kept in the Scientific Archive of IHMC RAS for a long time. They are published now accompanied by the materials revealing Skrzhinskaya’s scholar activity in the Academy for the History of Material Culture (1919–1930) and the Institute for the History of Material Culture (1943–1953). The publication is addressed to archaeologists, historians, specialists in the history of science, researchers of the medieval art and architecture and to everyone interested in the history of the Middle Ages.
