It is the first attempt to analyze the vocabulary of clothing and adornments in Tatar as a whole lexical and semantic system. The author resorts to comparative data from kindred and non-kindred languages, makes extensive use of texts in Old Tatar and Old Turkic. The peculiarities of the above terms formation and development of their semantic functions, areas of usage of certain terms are explored.
