The book presents an original concept of reading four works by I.A. Goncharov (“Ordinary History”, “Pallada Frigate”, “Oblomov”, “Cliff”) as a single text - a meta-narrative, the structural and content unity of which is due to the church-liturgical canon. The origins of the Orthodox poetry of the canon shown in the work testify to Goncharov as the artist of the Soil, the creator of the national artistic universe. Ivan Aleksandrovich Goncharov (June 6 (18), 1812, Simbirsk - September 15 (27), 1891, St. Petersburg) was a Russian writer and literary critic. Corresponding member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences in the category of Russian language and literature (1860), actual state councilor.
