This is a book about the Ukrainian-Russian war in 1917-1940 and ordinary Ukrainians who became heroes in the struggle against the Russian occupiers. It contains 50 biographies of Ukrainian heroes, 10 dramatic stories, 10 memoirs and 10 documents from the case of Ataman Anton Shkarbunenko-Shkurko, who fought until the fall of 1925. The publication is dedicated to the volunteers of the Zaporizhzhya Corps of the Army of the Ukrainian People’s Republic, the Right Sector State Unitary Enterprise, the Azov Regiment, the Aidar Battalion, and the Karpatska Sich Fire Brigade, who honestly fulfilled their duty to the Motherland. The study makes extensive use of documents from the SBU GDA, TsDAVO of Ukraine and other archives, as well as memoirs of soldiers of the UPR Army, members of the insurgent guerrilla movement and the Kuban Cossacks.
