The given book deals with the history of Hebrew charity development in Ukraine and Belarus. Starting from the Jewish merchants in the XIXth-XXth century, the study goes further to the period of 1921-1939. Charity is overviewed here as a factor of the Jews' national unity. The book also describes the two years of functioning of the West-Ukrainian branch of Solomon International University and singles out the problems of Judaic studies.
