The book continues the series of an outstanding journalist and writer L.Kolodny, the author of many books about Moscow and Muscovites. This edition is devoted to the streets, churches, palaces and people of Taganka, one of the most renowned ancient regions of the city. The author proves that a negative opinion of Taganka, formed till 1917, has already become old-fashioned and doesn’t correspond to the facts. A great many monuments of architecture of the XVIII-XIXth centuries remained in the streets of Taganka, as they didn’t undergo a radical reconstruction.
