The collection of studies by kuishi and writer Talasbek Asemkulov (1955–2014) includes his texts on Kazakh traditional music, as well as mythology, ethnography, and history. They have been created for more than 30 years, reflecting the paradigms that are relevant for the researcher in different periods of life. The volume opens with his 1979 student work, in which the Kazakh epic heritage is interpreted in accordance with the Kazakh hermeneutical tradition, metaphysically and psychologically at the same time. Most of the texts were co-authored with culturologist Zira Nauryzbay, translated by her from the Kazakh language or prepared by her for publication.
