Critic Ales Adamovich called the talent of the writer, laureate of the State Prize of Belarus named after Yanka Kupala M. Straltsov (1937–1987) "winged by a high culture of thought and feeling." The book of the chosen one was made up of classical prose ("Smelninge prukuk", "The Riddle of Bogdanovich", "One paw, one chun"), rich in original thought, but "poetry not spoiled by cheap paradoxes" (Y. Bril), as well as articles and essays about the real thing that M. Straltsov timely noticed in Belarusian literature. The writer's epistolary legacy is also collected here for the first time.
