The monograph analyzes the possibilities of extending the experience gained in mathematics in the study of abstract spaces to the field of economic science and, in this context, considers the tasks and general principles of the study of spatial economic interactions. The main attention is paid to the creation of a formal-logical model focused on establishing the dependence of system effects generated in the national economic space on the structure of spatial markets. The concepts of central places and interregional economic interactions form the backbone of the formal-logical model. The two concepts, being intertwined substantively and instrumentally, allow testing the assumption of the existence of a hierarchical structure of spatial economic interactions and assessing the system effects resulting from the established structure. The range of applied results that can be obtained with the help of the formal-logical model is outlined. On the basis of the analysis of the structures of spatial economic interactions of Japan and China, the conclusion about the non-zero degree of similarity of these structures is formulated and the necessity to develop discussions about the ratio of the general and specific in the existing forms of spatial organization of economic activity is demonstrated.
