The collection presents songs of the Orenburg Cossacks of the Kizilsky District of the Chelyabinsk Region, recorded in 1991 by Professor V. M. Shchurov of the Moscow State Conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovsky, in 1998-2000 by Magnitogorsk philologist A. G. Serov and in 2016-2017 by employees of the Folklore and Ethnographic Center named after A. M. Mekhnetsov of the St. Petersburg State Conservatory named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov. The publication presents various genres of the Cossack musical tradition: calendar-ritual and wedding folklore, lyrical and marching songs, dance songs and ditties, children's folklore. The collection is the first edition containing an audio and video appendix with songs of the Orenburg Cossacks of the Kizilsky District of the Chelyabinsk Region. The publication is addressed to folklore ensembles of the South Ural region and can be used by students of higher and secondary music educational institutions, as well as students of children's music schools.
