The novel "Soldier Ivan Yashchenko" is based on real events. The author used the memories of a front-line soldier and rare documents, both Russian and German (for example, the fascist newspaper "Pravda" (1941), published in the occupied territory of the USSR). The names of the main character and his loved ones are not fictitious. The fate of Ivan, who was captured and escaped three times until he ended up in a partisan detachment, became disabled after being wounded, and in the post-war period turned out to be tragic. Ivan Komlev (Viktor Pavlovich Ivanov) is a prose writer and publicist, member of the Russian Writers' Union.
