The monograph examines the history of the opening and development of educational and socio-cultural activities of the southern Russian departments of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society in the late 19th - early 20th centuries, as well as the pilgrimage of residents of the southern provinces of the Russian Empire to the Christian shrines of the East.
