The collective work Slovak Onomastic Terminology, after more than forty years, brings a summary of more than 600 Slovak onomastic generic terms and terms related to onomastic theory, and their equivalents in Czech, Polish, English, German and Hungarian. The elaboration of the terminology is based on the theoretical foundations and methodology of terminology as a scientific discipline and on the principles and criteria for the creation of onomastic terms, which were established by an international scientific team. The definitions of the terms were adjusted in accordance with their current understanding. The authors consulted on the problematic terms and their interpretations with onomastic authorities who are members of the terminology group of the International Committee of Onomastic Sciences and other domestic and foreign onomastic commissions. In addition to the theoretical and methodological foundations, goals, principles and concept, the publication also contains a chapter on the development of Slovak onomastic terminology and the genesis of its elaboration to date.
