The monograph studies ‘posad’ as a specific type of small semi-urban settlement, for instance, that one, which formed outside the Laura of the Holy Trinity and St.Sergius and was declared a posad in 1782. Sergiev Posad serves as an example of the transformations, peculiar to the new settlements, and specific forms of town life.
