The book is dedicated to the biography and feat of Sergei Nikolaevich Oreshkov, Hero of the Soviet Union, who on August 16, 1943 closed the embrasure of an enemy bunker with his body in the battle for the village of Vasishchevo in the Kharkov region of the Ukrainian SSR. Sergei Oreshkov is a native of the village of Chuprino, Sokolsky municipal district, Vologda region, but during the USSR he was considered “their hero” in different cities of the country: Donetsk and Arkhangelsk, Vologda and Ulan-Ude, Sokol and the city of Smela (Ukrainian SSR). The publication summarizes the experience of Soviet researchers from these cities in a modern context.
