This book of memoirs by Tsanko Yablanski (born 1944) shows how the world-famous Bulgarian scientist in the field of genetics and selective animal breeding became involved in the country's politics after the democratic changes of 1989. In 1995 Yablanski was elected mayor of Stara Zagora, one of Bulgaria's largest cities, with the strong support of the anti-communist Union of Democratic Forces (UDF). The second UDF government appointed him Ambassador of Bulgaria to Israel (2000-2003). After that he resumed his scientific research at the Trakia University in Stara Zagora. For his active research he has won many prestigious national and international awards.
