The book provides the information on the Russian uniform buttons. Uniform buttons present an important historical source. Appearance of buttons – their color (white or yellow metal) and coined picture (or lack of it) - carried concise, clear, and detailed information about the owner of the uniform. The variety of images on the buttons was defined by the variety of services. Thus, the history of uniform buttons is connected with the history of civil, military and class institutions of pre-revolutionary Russia, their organization and functioning.
