The collection is based on materials of mainly traditional Russian folklore collected on the territory of the Republic of Bashkortostan. Includes fairy tales, legends, traditions, fairy tales, blades, songs of different genres, riddles, proverbs, sayings, signs and other genres of folklore. If available, the texts are given with the preservation of dialectal features. Most of the folklore works are published for the first time. A significant part was extracted from the archival materials of the folklore expeditions of the Leningrad folklorist N.P. Kolpakova (1938). Moscow State University M.V. Lomonosov under the leadership of E.V. Pomerantseva (1948-1949) and the V.I. M.F. Rylsky National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1942-1943). The collection also contains folklore compositions collected or published by 11.V. Kireevsky and Yazykovy (1830s). V.S. Kasimovsky (1878), N.A. Gurvich (1882). V.V. Kolesnikov (1888-1890). L.11. Kuznetsov (1891), D.K. Zelenin (1904), as well as L.G. Barag. B.G. Akhmetshin. L.I. Bryantseva. I.G. Karpukhin. V.V. Shmakov, G.I. Rozhkova, S.A. Moiseeva, I. G. Kulsarina, F.G. Kalieva, E.E. Nechvalodoy, Yu.G. Dinikeeva and other authors. The introductory articles to the collection give a historical and ethnographic essay about the Russians of Bashkortostan and describe the stages of collecting Russian folklore in the republic. Comments include information about folklore records and their variants, primarily in the territory of Bashkortostan.
