For thousands of years people inhabiting the Dnieper territory and the North-Eastern part of Russia were considered to be practically one nation. But nowadays the forces, which wish to provoke the quarrel between Russia and Ukraine, as well as numerous disagreements on economic and political questions, have strengthened greatly. In Ukraine, for instance, many people want to outlaw the Russian language, trying to prove that these nations have different ethnical roots. Having analyzed the Russian history, the author tries to give answers to various issues, concerning these complicated relations.
