The basic goal of the presented scientific monograph is to answer the question of what the rule of law actually is and how it should be understood correctly. In searching for an answer, the author focuses on three levels of analysis of the issue: historical-ideological, constitutional-dogmatic and transnational or European. As part of this, it reflects not only the valid regulation within hard law and soft law, but also the jurisprudence of relevant judicial institutions, especially the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic, the Court of Justice of the EU and the European Court of Human Rights.
