The historical story "Quid est veritas?" ("What is the truth?") is written on the basis of a wealth of factual material that Natalena Koroleva collected in Tarragona, the Spanish city from which Pontius Pilate came. The author presents the Roman procurator primarily as a person who acted in accordance with the requirements of the laws of that time and was by no means cruel or cunning. Along with Pontius Pilate, the main characters of the work are Caius Pilate, son of Pontius, Mary Magdalene, and Joseph of Arimathea. The story was first published in 1966.
