Shagen Mesropovich Shaginyan (1922–1988) is a journalist, translator, folklorist, ethnographer, local historian, veteran of the Great Patriotic War, member of the Union of Journalists, laureate of the Nikolai Pogodin Prize.
The book contains more than 2,300 proverbs and sayings, arranged thematically, as well as a dictionary of the Novo-Nakhichevan dialect. The text is presented in parallel: in the Novo-Nakhichevan dialect of the Armenian language, with transcription and translation into Russian.
