The monograph presents the results of a study of ceramic collections of medieval monuments of Karelia of the 10th – 15th centuries. The central place in the study is occupied by the classification and typological analysis of stucco and pottery utensils of the settlements of the North-West Ladoga, hunting and fishing villages of the Onega Sea basin, the south-western Baltic Sea Region and the burial mounds of the South-East Ladoga. Analysis data of the ceramic material was used to solve the issues of chronology and historical and cultural attribution of monuments. The characteristic and results of a comparative analysis of ceramic production among the peoples of Karelia in the Middle Ages are given. The Appendix publishes research data on the reconstruction of pottery technologies based on the use of geochemical and mineralogical analysis methods.
