The book brings together short notes by R. Baradulin, previously published in his 11-volume edition "Diaries and Notes. 1951-2014", printed in 2015-2022. Various notes nicely complement the portrait of the poet, the chronicle of his life, interests, and observations. A poet with a Nobel Prize nomination. Borodulin's poems are a unique fusion of folk poetry and modern language, imagery and metaphor. It is no coincidence that philologists call him "the king of metaphors." He actively used dialects and neologisms. In 2006, Ryhor Borodulin was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature for his book "Ksty." "Ksty" is a word with many meanings, as the poet loved. It includes "fingers," "baptism," and "crosses." The result is a collection of spiritual poetry, carefully collected by Borodulin's colleagues, associates, and students. The nearly 500-page tome includes sonnets, ballads, prayer poems, reflections on life and death, the poet's purpose, and the fate of Belarus. According to literary scholars, it is a true work of art. Ryhor Borodulin did not receive the Nobel Prize, but his official registration as a candidate is already an outstanding fact for Belarusian literature.
The translation of "The Tale of Igor's Campaign" into Belarusian is also his brainchild. In 1976, Ryhor Borodulin won the Yanka Kupala State Prize for his collection of poems "Rum" and translations of Garcia Lorca. Poems by Ryhor Borodulin himself.
A special place in Borodulin's work is occupied by translations of works by great poets of different eras and nations. He translated William Shakespeare, Adam Mickiewicz, George Byron, Alexander Pushkin, Andrei Voznesensky, Bertolt Brecht, Sergei Yesenin, Janis Rainis, Omar Khayyam, Boris Pasternak and many others into Belarusian.
