It is the social-democratic intelligentsia that bears special responsibility for the tragic destinies of Russia. The offered monograph is in fact the first systemic research of this unique historic phenomenon. By using numerous and varied sources, the author shows the predominant role the intelligentsia played in manipulating the workers' movement, as well as in giving birth to and developing the "proletarian" party.
