The monograph is an important contribution to a deeper understanding of the literary work of Pavol Gasparovic Hlbina - a pioneer and central personality of Slovak Catholic modernity. The poet's work from the 1930s, which represents the basis of modern spiritual poetry, became the center of the author's attention. The result of the analysis of poetry collections, poems published in magazines, archival materials, interviews with the author, the author's articles and the literary legacy (together with the appropriately applied connection of the literary-historical and interpretive approach) is a comprehensive view not only of the personality of the poet and his work, but also of the atmosphere in the Slovak literary environment at the time of the first republic.
