The author is a former political officer, who went through the ranks from private to colonel and from the position of regimental Komsomol organizer to the head of the political department of the BVI and secretary of the district party commission. Participant in combat operations in the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan. Before being drafted into the army, he graduated from the Kupyansky Pedagogical School in Ukraine; while serving in the Armed Forces, he graduated from the Murom Military School of Communications (as an external student) and in absentia from the Law Faculty of BSU named after. V.I.Lenin. He constantly participated in public life: he was elected to leading party and Komsomol bodies, including a member of the Central Committee of the Young Communist League of Young Communists, a deputy of the Minsk City Council of Workers' Deputies. After the collapse of the USSR, he retained his convictions, actively participates in the work of the Communist Party of Belarus, the Belarusian Union of Officers and the Military Scientific Society at the Central House of Officers of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, for many years he has been a member of the editorial board of the Communist Party of Belarus newspaper "Communist of Belarus. We and Time"
