Alexander Grigorievich Lukashenko is a Belarusian political, state and military figure. The first and currently the only president of the Republic of Belarus and the supreme commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Belarus (the permanent leader of the Republic of Belarus, who has held the presidential post for the seventh consecutive term). In 1994, he was elected president of Belarus. He won the second round with 80.1% of the votes; his opponent was the chairman of the Council of Ministers of the republic Vyacheslav Kebich. Since 2000, Lukashenko has also been the chairman of the Supreme State Council of the Union State.
