A description of muscular and motor flies (ornithopters) is given, ranging from the simplest, which are wings attached to the arms, to devices capable of carrying a person. The history of the development of the science of flapping flight, the search for ways to increase the bearing capacity of the flapper, the peculiarities of the wing arrangement of natural flapper - birds, flying insects, bats, the history of the origin of the water flapper are briefly described. The propeller (not ornithopteric) and ornithopteric muscles are compared in terms of the power expended on their piloting.
