The author of the book, Konstantin Krutikov, is a diplomat, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. Under conditions of China resistance to Japanese aggression, the Civil War in China and the first decade of the formation of the Republic of China, the author worked in the field of Soviet-Chinese relations. He worked at the Embassy of the USSR in China, as Consul General in Shanghai, deputize of the director of the Far East Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ambassador in Cambodia. The title comprises personal observations of the author, information about many little known or unknown actions of Soviet diplomats in various epochs.
