The book by the world-known French specialist in semiotics and linguistics A.I.Greimas consists of two works devoted to the Lithuanian mythology - "On gods and people" and "In search of ethnic memory". The author treats mythological studies as archeology of culture and uses scholarly methods which allow to "construct from pieces", from single fragments of the Lithuanian folklore the mosaic of cultural heritage, to uncover the hidden sense of mythological texts.
